Student policies & support

Clear information. Respectful support.

Policy version: 2026-10-19.1. Students who signed an earlier version remain under the version they signed, and OPAA support can send a copy on request. Contact OPAA support with questions before acknowledging these policies. Support aims to reply within two business days. Do not send patient information, passwords or payment-card details.

Program scope & enrolment acknowledgement

This Student Policy Agreement is between the student and Ontario Pharmacy Assistant Academy Inc., the legal entity operating OPAA – Ontario Pharmacy Assistant Academy and providing the OPAA program. References to OPAA in these policies mean the program or brand and, when describing contractual rights or responsibilities, Ontario Pharmacy Assistant Academy Inc.

Approximately 26 planned learning hours over four weeks: approximately 6 hours 30 minutes of OPAA video lessons, 6 hours of live pharmacist-led classes, 2 hours of supervised community-pharmacy training and 11 hours 30 minutes of guided study, required Kroll video viewing, exercises and assessments. The 45 OPAA lessons total 6 hours 23 minutes 44 seconds; 6 hours 30 minutes is an approximate planning allowance. All four linked TELUS Health Kroll tutorials are mandatory in Week 4 and included once in its guided study allocation. Students complete activity W4-A1 by confirming that they watched all four tutorials. The confirmation is recorded automatically and is required before Week 4 completion and certificate eligibility. Live classes may run longer for questions and discussion; attendance is recorded separately.

The program prepares learners for a pharmacy assistant support role. Completion does not provide pharmacist or pharmacy-technician registration or licensure, or guarantee employment, a job offer or salary. Application submission does not confirm admission or payment.

Professional conduct & respectful learning

I will behave respectfully during online classes, assessments and pharmacy activities. Harassment, discrimination, threats, abuse, impersonation and unsafe behaviour are not permitted.

I will follow instructor and pharmacy directions and will not participate while impaired. I understand that unsafe activity may be stopped and misconduct may be reviewed under OPAA's published procedures.

Privacy & patient confidentiality

Ontario Pharmacy Assistant Academy Inc. operates OPAA and is responsible for handling personal information collected through the website. Ontario Pharmacy Assistant Academy Inc. uses the personal information needed to administer enrolment, course access, communications, assessments and completion records. I will read the privacy information provided by OPAA and direct questions to OPAA support.

I will not photograph, record, copy, remove or share patient information or pharmacy records. I will not put patient information in assignments, email, AI tools or personal devices. I will immediately report accidental access or disclosure to the supervising pharmacist and OPAA, without repeating patient details in routine messages.

Online security and data-breach risk: I understand that no website, electronic storage system or internet transmission can be guaranteed completely secure. Despite reasonable safeguards, cyberattacks, unauthorized access, service interruptions or data loss may occur and could expose personal information, including contact details, signed agreements or learning records.

Ontario Pharmacy Assistant Academy Inc. remains responsible for safeguards and other obligations required by applicable privacy law. If a breach occurs, Ontario Pharmacy Assistant Academy Inc. will assess and respond to it and provide notifications, reports and records as required by law. A breach does not by itself determine fault; responsibility depends on the facts and applicable law. This acknowledgement does not waive my statutory rights, excuse a failure to meet applicable legal duties, or authorize unauthorized disclosure of my information.

Community Pharmacy Observation Project

The observation project is an academic assignment within the guided-assignment hours. It is separate from the 2-hour supervised community-pharmacy training session.

For independent observation, I will first introduce myself to pharmacy staff as an OPAA student completing an educational assignment. I will remain in public customer areas, respect staff directions and avoid disrupting operations. I will not enter staff-only areas, handle prescriptions or access patient records during this independent assignment.

If staff ask me to stop, I will leave politely and contact OPAA if I need help completing the assignment. My checklist and reflection will contain no identifying patient information.

Supervised Community Pharmacy Training

I understand that the program includes a 2-hour in-person community-pharmacy training session supervised by a pharmacist. I will attend only the session and location arranged or confirmed by OPAA, and follow the site's orientation, safety and confidentiality instructions.

I will identify myself as a student and perform only learning activities authorized and supervised by the pharmacist. I will not independently provide clinical advice, make clinical decisions or carry out a pharmacist's or registered pharmacy technician's responsibilities. I will stop and ask the supervisor whenever I am uncertain.

The training session is an educational activity and does not constitute employment or a promise of employment. I will notify OPAA promptly if I cannot attend so that next steps can be discussed.

Attendance, assignments & assessment requirements

I will complete the required learning activities, live classes, supervised pharmacy session, assignments and assessments, and submit accurate attendance and completion records. I will notify OPAA promptly about an absence, access problem or missed deadline.

Attendance alone does not earn a certificate. I must meet the published completion requirements, achieve at least 70% on the final competency assessment and satisfy safety-critical requirements. Any reassessment arrangements and applicable fees must be explained before I agree to them.

A student who meets every completion requirement receives a numbered OPAA Certificate of Competence, which employers can check at opaacademy.ca/verify-certificate. The certificate confirms completion of this OPAA program. It is not a government licence, a registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists or a diploma.

Academic integrity & responsible AI use

I will submit my own work and will not share answer keys, impersonate another student or obtain unauthorized assistance during assessments. I will use AI or other assistance only where the instructor permits it and acknowledge that assistance as instructed.

I will not upload patient information, confidential pharmacy information, protected course materials or assessment questions to AI services. I will ask the instructor if I am unsure what assistance is allowed.

Account security, course materials & recording

I will keep my login details private and report suspected unauthorized access to OPAA. Course resources are for my own learning; I will not sell, publish or distribute protected materials or assessment content.

I will not record or photograph classes, students, instructors or pharmacy activities without the required prior permission. This acknowledgement does not grant OPAA permission to use my image, voice or work for advertising. Any promotional consent must be requested separately and remain optional.

Safety, accessibility & concerns

I will follow site hygiene and safety instructions and promptly report hazards, injuries, errors or near misses to the supervising pharmacist. In an emergency I will follow site emergency procedures and seek immediate assistance.

I can contact OPAA support about learning accommodations, accessibility, unfair treatment or safety concerns. I will request support as early as practical and share sensitive information only through the process OPAA provides. Raising a concern does not mean giving up my rights. OPAA's Complaints and Appeals Procedure, Privacy Policy and Accessibility Policy are available from OPAA support on request.

Tuition, payment & refund information

Ontario Pharmacy Assistant Academy Inc. is the legal business providing the OPAA program and the contracting entity for tuition, payments, cancellations and refunds.

Program tuition is CAD $1,400 before tax. OPAA currently charges 13% Ontario HST on tuition, which adds CAD $182, making the total CAD $1,582. OPAA has asked the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) to confirm the GST/HST treatment of this program's tuition. If the CRA confirms that the tuition is not subject to HST, OPAA will stop charging HST and will correct HST already charged on tuition as the ruling and the law require, including by refund or credit to the student where applicable. The final amount due will be shown before checkout.

I understand that saving this application does not charge me or confirm a paid enrolment. OPAA will show the final amount, including applicable tax, before checkout.

To cancel, submit a written request through the OPAA support form. OPAA uses the time the request is received to determine the refund period and may verify the payer's identity before sending money back to the original payment method. The cohort start and each following week begin Monday at 6:00 a.m. Toronto time.

For a cancellation received before the cohort begins, OPAA refunds 100% of tuition actually paid, including any HST charged on that tuition. From the cohort start until just before Week 2 begins, the refund is 50% of tuition actually paid; from the start of Week 2 until just before Week 3 begins, 25%; from the start of Week 3 until just before Week 4 begins, 10%; from the start of Week 4 onward, 0% under this schedule. The week is determined by the assigned cohort start, not by when a student first logs in or watches a lesson.

Percentages apply to the tuition amount paid after any discount, before HST. If HST was charged, the corresponding HST on the refunded tuition is returned with the refund; no additional tax is charged on the refund. For example, on CAD $1,400 tuition plus CAD $182 HST, a 50% tuition refund returns CAD $700 plus CAD $91 HST, or CAD $791 total. Any reassessment payment is separate and is not part of this tuition schedule.

This policy does not reduce any cancellation or refund right required by law. Where an applicable law gives the student a greater refund or a different calculation, OPAA follows that law. Contact OPAA before paying if the terms or tax treatment are unclear.
